Board Members – The Gertrude Projection Association

 

Ms Kym Ortenburg (Chairperson)
Kym is an experienced producer of festival events and documentaries. She has worked as a freelance corporate documentary producer, director, writer, script editor, researcher and project manager on a wide variety of community, arts and corporate video projects. She practiced law in Victoria from 1988 to 1997 when she left the law to complete her Masters degree in Film and Television at AFTRS. She co founded the Gertrude Association in 2007 and is the producer of the annual Gertrude Street Projection Festival.

Mr Bernie Phelan (Secretary & Public Officer)
Freelance Commercial Photographer, committee member for the Gertrude St Projection Festival and until very recently a Gertrude Street trader. Bernie has a keen interest in community art projects.

Ms Joh Kirby
Joh Kirby is the Victorian Law foundation’s Executive Director, a role that she has held since 2008. Before her appointment, Joh was the Grants Manager at the foundation for two years and a lawyer at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. She has a strong interest in community education and publishing which she developed working in Arts conservation before qualifying as a lawyer. In 2010 Joh was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to investigate best practice in community legal education and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ms Fiona Hillary
Since completing her Masters of Arts – Art in public space at RMIT, Fiona has developed a keen research interest in the use of public space, particularly contested spaces and the implications of artistic engagement. She was the founding Co-ordinator of Signal Youth Arts Studio, the City of Melbourne’s most recent youth arts project and is responsible for co-ordinating the Painting and Public Art program within the Diploma of Visual Art at RMIT.

Ms Yandell Walton
Yandell Walton is an accomplished photo-media and projection installation artist exhibiting regularly in galleries and non-traditional public spaces both in her home country, Australia and internationally. Recent exhibitions include an interactive public artwork presented by Experimenta for the Melbourne Festival, VIVID Festival Sydney, ISEA ( International Symposium of Electronic Art) and White Night Melbourne. She is current co – curator of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival 2014.
