Getting to the Festival
Walk, ride or catch the tram! Tram route 96, 112 or 86.
Located just outside the city, Gertrude St is easily (and best!) accessed by Public Transport.
• The 86 Tram runs right down Gertrude Street, so if you’re coming out of the city simply hop off at Stop 13, or if you’re heading into the city, you want Stop 15.
• The 112 Tram runs up and down Brunswick Street, and crosses Gertrude Street at Stop 13.
• The 96 Tram runs up and down Nicholson Street and crosses Gertrude Street at Stop 12.
The closest train station is Parliament station, and then it’s a quick 10 minute walk up Macarthur Street to St Vincent’s Plaza, and then just another 50m to Gertrude Street. If you don’t want to walk, and you time your travel well, you can also catch the 112 Tram from outside the train station.
There are several routes that stop outside the Australian Catholic University on Victoria St, and then it’s a 40m walk to Gertrude Street down Napier Street.
Ride your Bike:
If you live locally, feel like going green or just like riding, then ride your bike! With easy bike lanes running into Gertrude Street from Langridge Street and Nicholson Street, and plenty of places to lock up your bike in Fitzroy, bike riding is an excellent way to get to the Festival.
Just put one foot in front of the other! If you’re not coming from too far away then your best option is probably just to walk.
Parking is tough around Fitzroy, so we suggest drive only if you must. There are limited 1 to 2 hour parking spaces along and on side streets of Gertrude Street.
