Nadia Faragaab is an artist who mainly uses mixed media and installation. She is concerned with tensions that exist among older traditions and contemporary life, and their impact on cultural and gender identity. Focusing on experiences among the Somali diaspora in Australia and internationally, Faragaab’s work aims to highlight the absence of Somali culture in popular social spaces, such as libraries, galleries, academia and Western pop culture. She has been exhibiting her work in Melbourne and around Australia since 2010. This is her first projection work.
