A butterfly is perched precariously on the glossy lips of a woman’s mouth. In slow motion the butterfly appears to be struggling for its life, attempting to escape and take flight. Despite this tension a symbiotic relationship between woman and butterfly emerges, reacting to each other’s movements they appear to become one organism. Set against a striking blue ‘chroma-key’ negative space, the image is thick with information and anticipation; a stretched out photographic moment.
