Artwork Title: Echelon

Echelon is an interactive, pop-up vision projection space, where video content is mixed, live on the street, by both artists and audience. The public are invited to engage with various devices from pads, pods to laptops, to co-create layers of vision and sound that transform a lonely car park into a immersive cultural hologram. Echelon involves three Far North Queensland artists developing a new work for a National context.

Culture Mechanics are three Far North Queensland based performance artists and arts-workers, whose practice spans video, sound and projection art, circus and physical theatre and community engagement.

The team has a diverse background in circus, street arts, audio visual production and events. Their practice focuses on the nexus between culture and the mechanics of art making.

Working with a range of collaborative artists to realise diverse outcomes, the current Echelon project brings together mapping, interactive and vision based artists to create an immersive projection environment.
