Urala is an exploration of an alternate Australian narrative where the transmission of information is authored from an Indigenous perspective for the consumption of select migrant communities. A video installation, the work contains silent footage from the recent Forced Closure marches with subtitles in Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese and Anaiwan.

Presented as part of the GSPF Mentorship Program 2015, supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.

Gabi Briggs is Koori woman from the sovereign Anaiwan and Gumbangier peoples and has been raised on country in Armidale, NSW. She relocated to the unceded lands of the Wurunjeri people where she is currently completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT.

Gabi works primarily with photography but also works within different mediums such as video and performance. Gabi is a co-editor of the Sovereign Apocalypse zine and is a member of the Tiddas Take Back collective.
