Artwork Title: Totem Spirit Rope
Kenneth Lancelot Suico

In Totem spirit rope, Suico is investigating our ability to transfer the visual experience of tension and release to the physical reality in which we find ourselves.

The project has been redeveloped from a video sculpture exploring the effect of tension and release of objects within a defined space. Ropes are a reoccurring feature in Suico’s work, where he uses them to represent connection and attachment, but also the constant possibility of restraint.

Kenneth Lancelot Suico born in Cebu City, Philippines is a lens based artist and photographer living and working in Melbourne. He is currently studying an undergraduate in visual art at the Victorian College of the Arts (Photography). His practice primarily investigates the relationship between objects in varying spaces. With his photographic background, he regularly explores and plays with light and shade often using reflective and translucent surfaces in order to analyze the desires of contemporary culture.
