Krystal Schultheiss – Reprise
Site Number: 17
Site Location: Gertrude Hotel 148 Gertrude St
Artwork Title: Reprise
Artist: Krystal Schultheiss
‘Reprise’ is a digital interpretation of the movement, rhythm and flow of the human body. The project utilises digitally tracked motion data and re-illustrates the points of motion into abstracted form.
Tracking motion can be described as the practice of recording certain positions of moving points in space. ‘Reprise’ contains the recorded movements of a senior yoga practitioner Masha Gorodilova, performing advanced yoga poses. By tracking and tracing the movement between each pose, ‘Reprise’ invites the viewer to witness the unseen liminal movements in a poetic and ethereal form.
Krystal Schultheiss is an artist and motion graphics designer currently based in Melbourne and has been exhibiting animated works since 2007 and performing as a visual artist (VJ) since 2010.
Within her arts practice Krystal explores and experiments with the notion of creating immersive experiences for audiences and is interested in questioning the understanding of visual and spatial awareness. In her practice she experiments with the visual interpretation of rhythm, flow of movement and visual abstraction as an expression of a phenomenological encounter with reality.
