Digital Op Pop is an abstracted series of coded texts re-animated to reflect the dynamism and buzz of our city. Kaleidoscopic effects travel up, down and across, emulating the movement of traffic, people, information and ideas. Our perception of colour is distorted through abstract light and movement, creating a perpetual osmotic display of travel and dissolve.

Ian de Gruchy is an accomplished projection artist interested in the positioning of art within the broader social fabric of the public realm. His is interested in the aesthetic viability of projection to locate ideas within diverse contexts that impact tap into the public imagination.

Through the integration of research and analogue technologies, Ian’s work explores projection as intervention crossing boundaries of art, architecture and performance.

Ian has exhibited extensively both in Australia and abroad including White Night Festival, Venice Architecture Biennale, ACCA, Melbourne Festival, Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) and the National Gallery of Australia.
