Artwork Title: Land Forms II
Artist: Zoe Scoglio

Land Forms is inspired by the scientific concept of abiogenesis, the idea that living matter originates from non-living matter. Considering these origins of the human race, the work draws connections between human and geological scale, timeframes and materiality.

Zoe’s practice explores how the narratives we create about our idea of humanness, impact the way we commodify, consume and value the natural world and its resources in this era of the Anthropocene.

Land Forms II is one in a series of video collages contemplating the interrelated nature of the human and geological worlds.

Zoe Scoglio unites performance, video, sound and installation often creating interdisciplinary, site-responsive and participatory work. Her live and participatory projects explore possibilities for collective engagement, ceremonial encounters and enlivened installations, combining both animate and inanimate bodies in a relational choreography.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Media Arts (Hons) at RMIT University in 2008, Zoe has since worked nationally and internationally on solo and collaborative projects, and as a video designer and videographer for dance, theatre and opera.  Self-devised works include Green Room Award Winning  ‘MASS’, made for Calder Park Raceway (Field Theory, Site is Set 2015) and Green Room Award Winning ‘Shifting Ground’ (Arts House, 2012). Shifting Ground toured to Tramway-Glasgow and Apiary Studios-London (2014), Operadagen Rotterdam and to Music Theatre NOW – Netherlands (2016).
