Jacob Coppedge is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist, creating work that primarily exists as mix-media illustrations as well as text-based, performance and intersecting drawing sculptures. For their performance work, they go under the name Jada or Jadaboii. They explore the world of drag and pursue breaking down stereotypes and norms that tend to hinder the concept of freedom. In both drag and illustration, they work hard to creating a dialogue that can build understanding. Their works relate to their views on humankind and how we interact in the world today, burying itself under a big cloud of ambiguity, being emotively drawn by vulnerabilities, thought trains and perceived weight on their shoulders, they make their illustrations seemingly light-hearted to contradict the rooting themes. Though oppression and marginalization of people, the mind is affected. Both individually and as a community.
